In this talk, I will share how we managed to integrate numerous open-source technologies into a single product and the journey we took to create a unified, general-use API for them.

The presentation covers various challenges of building a platform based on Kubernetes, delving deep into approaches and implementation details useful in platform engineering.

Key Points:
- While Helm is an industry standard, it doesn’t provide full lifecycle management for applications. We took the best of both worlds by combining Helm and Operator approaches, and integrating them with a common Kubernetes API server.
- How we unified the management of several unrelated resources under a single, dynamically extendable aggregation API server in Kubernetes. Our API server doesn’t use etcd; instead, it simply translates dynamically registered custom types into other Kubernetes resources – no one has done this before!
- Universal Graphical Interface: A GUI that works the same for any application managed by various operators. I will show how we built our own dashboard and adapted it for easy extensibility.
- Our thoughts on implementing a billing system that calculates resource consumption regardless of workload type and is easily extendable.

Join this session to learn how we are developing an open-source cloud platform and framework based on Kubernetes. Insights from a Cozystack core maintainer.
