In today's fast-paced development landscape, everyone wants an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) for streamlined workflows and improved efficiency. But few are prepared to implement the necessary standards, structure, and governance required for a successful IDP. This talk will explore the crucial prerequisites, such as naming conventions, tagging rules, and branching flow, that must be in place before embarking on the IDP journey.

Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) apparently are the holy grail to automating and streamlining software development in (larger) companies. But in order to streamline development, a golden path is necessary.. which implies a company already has a very clear understanding of how to develop software.
This talk will focus on the necessary parts of a golden path, seen from multiple levels:
- naming conventions
- policies
- automation and pipelines
- compliance
- from code to observability
I'll start with a brief introduction of the theory and then demonstrate a fully streamlined golden path on our live system.
