In November 2023 AWS announced Amazon Aurora Limitless: built on top of cloud-native architecture of Amazon Aurora, it allows to create clusters with PostgreSQL interface scaling to millions of write transactions per second and petabytes of data. To implement such distributed database, we even had to create our own timekeeping service with accuracy to millionths of a second around the world. In this session, we will go deeper into this and other design decisions we had to take to overcome distributed database challenges and explain the architecture under the hood of Aurora Limitless.
