As companies increasingly move to the cloud, they encounter common challenges such as security concerns, compliance requirements, raising costs, and operational complexity. This presentation explores how to deliver a SaaS experience on-premises using cloud-native tools to build a fully managed service on customers' infrastructure. We'll delve into leveraging tools like kcp, Kubernetes operators, Harbor, and more, along with new emerging tools.
The session will cover the technical intricacies, benefits, and challenges of three delivery models: fully managed (SaaS), hybrid (self-managed on rails), and packaged open source. We will offer practical insights and real-world examples throughout the discussion.

This presentation builds upon my extensive study on cloud and cloud-native adoption done at the University of Warwick and covers the technical aspects of my paper “A new business model for building SaaS businesses with cloud-native tools”. Attendees will learn how to implement scalable, secure, and efficient managed services using cloud-native tools. By sharing research findings, best practices and real-world experiences, this session aims to empower organizations to deliver seamless SaaS experiences, improve customer satisfaction, and streamline their operations.
